Our team was started by Planners, all with different interests and skillsets. We offer support to Municipalities for both the day-to-day interpretation and implementation of their planning strategies as well as in the planning and design of strategies. We also are happy to help private developers navigate the sometimes-tedious Development and Building Permit Application Process.

South West Nova Municipalities are surrounded by the sea. This distinctive geographic trait is so important when considering planning, development, and environmental protection within our area. Therefore, we have expanded our skillset to offer Coastal Management. We want to be able to support our local Municipalities in the development and implementation of Coastal Strategies as well as aid them in finding their place and voice within Provincial and Federal coastal initiatives.

Finally, we offer landscape park and private yard design. Our team will bring our in-depth knowledge of native plant species, as well as our understanding of good public and recreation space design to all your landscaping needs.

Our business model is that we work with sub-contractors: Engineers, Landscape Architects, GIS Technicians, Environmentalists, Architects, Building Officials and Designers to ensure that your project always has the team that you need.

Caroline is a Co-Owner of C + D Community Design and Lead Planner. Caroline is passionate about Planning and Community Development. Caroline oversees all final products to ensure superior quality. Caroline has an abundance of experience in policy development and interpretation. She excels at taking a problem and finding not only a solution but taking that situation and using policy to turn it into an opportunity. She is always reading the latest research and looking for the perfect chance to turn her knowledge into innovation. She loves working within the community and is always our company’s face and contact for clients. Caroline is creative, imaginative, and most of all loves her community of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. She is looking forward to seeing how her skill set can help to build and support the objectives of your Municipality, Company or Personal Project.

Raleigh is a genuine and thoughtful young planning professional. He holds a degree in Community Planning from Dalhousie University with interest in history, politics and Philosophy. Raleigh provides additional planning support on larger projects. Raleigh excels at background research. He is always happy to help with the collection so ideas, archival documents and case studies. He’s a strategic thinker, hard worker and determined to prove himself.

Jess is the team Botanist. Jess is thoughtful, observant and inspiring. Most of all her devotion to the care for living things and her knowledge of gardening, plant identification, insect identification, plant propagation, landscape maintenance and the natural environment make her an asset to any project. Jess provides plant expertise on all our landscape and street design work.  

Jess’s science background and interest in environmental sustainability allow her to seamlessly support our planning and coastal projects as needed.
